3-car crash under investigation, 1 person killed

An accident in Lower Burrell, Pennsylvania that involved three vehicles claimed the life of a 36-year-old man and shut down Route 56 as a police accident reconstruction unit investigated the scene of the wreck. Little information has been provided other than what was stated above since the investigation is ongoing. No other injuries were reported in the source article and we don’t know how many people were involved in the crash.

This is an unfortunate opportunity to revisit the post we published just a couple of weeks ago about the many causes of car accidents. What the ultimate cause of this wreck was will be determined in due time. But in the meantime, all we can do is speculate about what caused this fatal crash.

With three vehicles involved, it is possible that two vehicles were involved in the “main” accident while the third vehicle simply got caught up in the wreckage. But the trigger of the main crash, if that indeed is the case, could have been due to a drunk driver, or a texting driver, or a driver that was distracted in some way, shape or form. Nowadays, that usually means a cellphone absorbed a person’s focus and attention.

Fatal wrecks have obvious consequences, and some of these consequences are in the legal realm. Victims and/or their loved ones could pursue civil litigation against an at-fault driver if it can be proven that the individual was negligent in some way.
