Fatal truck accident has police searching for definitive answers

While the following truck accident didn’t happen here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the circumstances of the wreck could be relevant anywhere in the country. This particular crash happened in Georgia, where 8 vehicles were involved in a massive pile-up that may have been started by a truck driver.

The crash happened on a highway, and the police believe that the driver of a tractor trailer failed to brake when traffic changed in front of him. He was charged with failing to stop. He also was charged with vehicular homicide because the crash killed a 61-year-old woman. Her vehicle was on fire and caught underneath the tractor trailer when the police arrived. The 61-year-old was declared dead at the scene of the crash.

While ten people were hospitalized as a result of the crash, thankfully most of them were listed in “moderate” condition. Two people were listed in critical condition though. The police are still investigating this crash.

When a truck accident occurs, one of the prime potential causes of the wreck is the truck driver. Was the driver too tired to be driving his or her vehicle? Was the driver using drugs, alcohol or other substances to get through his or her workday? Was the driver distracted in some way? Did the driver simply fail to follow rules and safety procedures that we all follow out on the road?

When a truck driver is unsafe, innocent people are hurt. The victims and their loved ones should pursue justice as far as they can.
