A dog attack that happened outside of Pittsburgh (and the state of Pennsylvania) still shows the incredible risk that comes with owning a dog, and how owners have to train their pets well in order to prevent catastrophes like the one in our source article.

The case is out of Cleveland, where a 1-year-old girl was bitten on the face and chest by a dog. It is unknown at this time what breed of dog was involved in the attack, and the extent of the injuries to the infant are also unknown. What we do know is that the attack happened at night around 10:30 p.m.  The 1-year-old was taken to a nearby hospital for treatment. Other than that, little is known about why the attack occurred.

This is an unfortunate truth about dog attacks: they often happen to young children and kids. Since they are smaller, dogs are able to do more damage to them if they attack. And since the kids are usually around head level with the dog, it makes for a combustible combination. What this means is that it is incredibly important for dog owners to socialize their dogs in an appropriate way, while also keeping a close eye on them when they are around children.

When a dog owner fails in these duties, children can be severely injured as a result of a dog attack. Adults could suffer from a dog attack too. These owners must be held responsible in these cases.
