On wrongful death and product liability

Imagine for a moment that you have a relatively new blender. Or a relatively new toaster. Or really, any new appliance whatsoever. You use it a few times with no issues whatsoever. But then, one day, as you use this new appliance, it malfunctions in the most bizarre way, causing you harm. In the days that follow, you do some research online and you find out that the device you purchased has multiple different problems that other users have reported.

This happens more often than you would think, and it is often the starting point for a product liability lawsuit (which are almost always a class action lawsuit). Products fail all the time, and the ways in which they fail can cost people limbs, lives, and loved ones. Every manufacturer should be held accountable when their product puts consumers in danger.

What’s made even worse about all of this is that your hypothetical situation involved an adult. There are many situations where kids are harmed or killed due to a defect in a product or a product that was clearly too risky for children to use gets released to the public. The standards for all products are clear, and when they aren’t met there must be justice.

At DelVecchio & Miller, we have extensive experience representing clients who have been harmed by a defective product, or who have been killed under circumstances that qualify as wrongful death. If you or a loved one have been victimized, consider consulting with our attorneys.
