Fatalities caused by car crashes claimed the lives of 1,230 individuals in Pennsylvania in the year 2021, a 9% increase from the previous year; while 69,599 of the people concerned sustained injuries. The Pennsylvania Department recorded those staggering statistics.

Where personal injury can occur in a car crash

Car accidents can happen at any moment, and the driver is not always at fault. You could be driving late at night when an intoxicated pedestrian runs toward the middle of the road. Who then is held responsible for the injuries and damages? Let’s look at some of the most common circumstances contributing to car accidents:

  • Driving while distracted: A distracted driver is someone who gets into an accident or car crash because they were multi-tasking or doing something else while driving.
  • Driving while intoxicated: drunk driving is still a regular occurrence, despite the immense research showing how dangerous it is.
  • Injury because of an indirect event: This usually happens when the victim was not participating in the collision but sustained injuries.
  • Speed-linked collisions: An accident occurs not necessarily because the driver broke the speed limit but because authorities found speed tobe the cause of the accident.
  • Malfunctioning traffic controls: Signal lights or street signs can and do break. These inoperative circumstances could lead to potential car accidents involving pedestrians crossing or intersection collisions.
  • Maintenance Issues and vehicle defects: People or even the companies that own these vehicles do not always maintain them. As a result, from the 117,899 crashes described above, 874 were tire or wheel-related accidents and 672 happened because of issues with the cars’ brakes.

The point is that there are many factors that can and do contribute to car accidents, ranging from alcohol use to poorly placed Jersey barriers.

You do not have to be in a car to leave a scar

By taking a closer look at all these conditions, one can see how important it is to know if you are truly the one responsible for the accident. You will need someone who believes in you and learned enough to find the truth so that your innocence will prevail.
